Campus Recreation Facilities
Campus Recreation operates throughout the Student Recreation Center (SRC), Sherrill Center, and various outdoor and satellite locations to support the health and well-being of the UNC Asheville community.
2026 Univeristy Breaks & Closures
Spring Finals Week: May 4-8, 2026
- Fitness Center and Multipurpose Courts: 11 a.m.-7 p.m.
Justice Center Pool: 12-1 p.m. and 5:30-7 p.m. - All other services closed
Services closed for Commencement on Saturday, May 9- Monday, May 11
Reduced Summer hours will begin on Tuesday, May 12
Memorial Day, May 5: All services closed
Student Recreation Center
The Student Rec Center (SRC) is the heart of Campus Recreation. The SRC is home to many of our fitness courses, programs, and amenities, in addition to our administrative offices and guest services desk. Stop by during operating hours to speak with a member of our team if you have any questions about Campus Recreation.

Please note that the Spin Studio, Esports Center, and Outdoor Gear Rentals are only available to UNC Asheville students, faculty, and staff.

Spin StudioThe Spin Studio houses all of our indoor spin classes with space for 10 participants to engage in student and faculty-led spin classes. Esports CenterOur cutting-edge Esports facility offers equipment to cater to the diverse gaming interests of our community, including high-performance PCs featuring Alienware Aurora R12 specifications, 27″ gaming monitors, FANATEC SIM Racing rigs, PS5 consoles, and streaming equipment. Mon – Thu 4 p.m. – 10 p.m.

Indoor TrackThe SRC Indoor Track is a 1/10 mile track (10 laps = 1 mile). You can access the track through the main level of the SRC behind the guest services desk with your RockyCard. Mon – Thu 7 a.m. – 10 p.m.
Friday 7 a.m. – 8 p.m.
Saturday 11 a.m. – 3 p.m.
Sunday 1 p.m. – 8 p.m.

Indoor PoolThe Justice Center Pool is a six-lane, 25-yard pool located on the lower level of the SRC building. The pool is home to the Women’s Swim and Dive Team. The pool is open daily for open recreation lap swim, and can also be reserved for your group events. Please contact recreation@unca.edu for questions. Mon, Wed, Fri 7:30 a.m. – 8:30 a.m.

Multipurpose CourtsThe SRC has three multipurpose courts located on the lower level of the building. Open recreation hours are available daily for members to connect and engage in recreational activities of their choice. Courts can be set up for badminton, basketball, indoor soccer, kickball, pickleball, and volleyball. These courts may be sectioned off to allow multiple events to occur simultaneously. Mon – Thu 7 a.m. – 10 p.m.
Friday 7 a.m. – 8 p.m.
Saturday 11 a.m. – 3 p.m.
Sunday 1 p.m. – 8 p.m.

The Bike ShopThe Bike Shop is located on the ground floor of the Student Recreation Center. The Shop offers a variety of free bike-related resources, including commuter bike and skateboard rentals, bike repair, and bike repair education. Mountain bikes are also available for a small fee. The Bike Shop is available to all UNC Asheville students, faculty, and staff. See the Outdoor Programs page for more information. Mon, Wed, Fri 1 p.m. – 4 p.m.

Outdoor Gear RentalThe Outdoor Office is located in Room 107 of the Student Recreation Center and provides affordable rentals on a variety of outdoor equipment for activities like camping, hiking, climbing, biking, and paddling. Gear is available to all UNC Asheville students, faculty, and staff. Rentals are offered for weekends or full weeks during the fall and spring semesters, with both drop-in and reservation options available. Staff can also recommend local outdoor destinations and assist with trip planning. Mon & Fri 1 p.m. – 4 p.m.

Sherrill Center
The Wilma M. Sherrill Center consists of classrooms, labs, fitness rooms, a wellness cafe, and a demonstration kitchen. The Center is located next to the Student Recreation Center and is attached to Kimmel Arena. Please review our Fitness Room Policies before visiting.

Satellite Facilities on Campus
Available only to students living on campus.
Chestnut Hall Fitness RoomThe Chestnut Hall Fitness Room is located on the bottom floor of Chestnut Hall in The Woods Apartments on campus. Open 24 hours to all on-campus residents. Just use your RockyCard Student ID to swipe in. Access 24/7 RockyCard Student ID required

Governors Hall Fitness RoomThe Governor’s Hall Annex is located in The Village on campus. Open 24 hours to all on-campus residents with their RockyCard Student ID. Access 24/7 RockyCard Student ID required

Outdoor Spaces
Intramural FieldThe Student Recreation Center Intramural Field is located in the center of the Karl Straus Track behind the Student Recreation Center. The field is a 100-yard-by-65-yard space used for Intramural Sports and Club Sport practices. During inclement weather (rain, snow, frost, etc.), the field is closed. Please follow all posted signs. Disc Golf CourseThe Disc Golf Course is located adjacent to Mullen Park and Brown Hall. This 5-hole course is moderately hilly and moderately wooded. More course information can be found on U-Disc. Open daily Dawn until Dusk

Skate Park
The Skate Park, located in the P29 parking lot near the Health and Counseling Center off WT Weaver Blvd., features a 2′ and 5′ halfpipe, a box, multiple rails, kickers, and a spine ramp, as well as open space to practice flat ground tricks. Built beginner-friendly, this is the perfect place for skaters of all skill levels to learn and practice.
Don’t have a skateboard, helmet, or pads? No problem! Rent it all for free from our Bike Shop.
